About

Business Law Program

In the 21st century, lawyers face the challenge of advising business clients, large and small, in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing global business environment. Rising to this challenge requires providing students with a stronger foundation for business law practice. The Business Law Program is a student-centered program designed to expand student opportunities that strengthen knowledge of business law concepts as well as develop skills to assist professional development and readiness for practice. The program targets four core areas:

Academic Enrichment
Professional Development & Ethics
Experiential Learning
Joint Degree Programs

The program engages students, faculty, alumni, practitioners, and the broader community in an important dialogue on emerging business law issues. Wake Forest University School of Law, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is well positioned in the business law arena. The law school has a strong business law faculty, broad course offerings, and experiential learning opportunities. Wake Forest Law alumni are successful general counsels, law firm partners, investment bankers, chief executive officers, and assume many other important roles advising business enterprises.

Winston-Salem is the headquarters of many vibrant companies including BB&T, Reynolds American, HanesBrands, Krispy Kreme, and IMG College. The Wake Forest Innovation Quarter has become a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation especially in the areas of information technology and biomedical sciences. More broadly, the state of North Carolina boasts a rich and diverse business environment in the areas of financial services, technology, consumer products, and advanced manufacturing.

The Business Law Program is directed by Professor Omari Simmons.
